Emerald Set Celtic Cross with Trinity Knot Design

Designed by Fierna McManus

This beautiful 10ct Gold cross was designed Fierna McManus. This has a simple Celtic Cross with trinity knots and an emerald to the centre upright.

In Ireland, the High Cross is always seen on the most impressive of all Irish monuments. Free standing monuments can be seen with this design throughout Ireland. The origins of the cross can be traced to Roman times. They were used to commemorate victories in battle or the mighty dead. The magnificently carved High Cross, whilst thought to have a protective influence, also served as an assembly point for monastic religious ceremonies. The earliest known High Cross was the Carandonagh cross, dating from the mid-7th Century. The design also incorporates aspects of the cross in St Flannan’s Cathedral at Kilaloo outside Limerick.

The reverse of this cross is in plain gold. It measures 3.3 cms high (excluding anchor point) and is 1.8 cms across. The cross with chain weighs 3.71grams and is in 10ct gold. Dublin assay office.
